Sun Dried Textiles: A Reflection

Sun Dried Textiles: A Reflection

As an artist, it’s impossible not to find magical connections—or create them when they’re not immediately apparent. That’s why, 10 years into running PO-EM, I’m still madly in love with every part of it. The whole journey has turned out to be a beautiful, magical connection. I love our workshop and production partners, the process, the livelihoods supported within the artisan community, and our customers who enjoy the textiles, clothing, and art we create. I truly don’t know where the time has gone…

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at an important step in making a PO-EM piece: the sun-dried textiles. We don’t use machines to dry our fabrics—we rely on the sun to dry the textiles after the indigo wash. As the artist that I am, I can’t help but think about how positive energy from the sun is absorbed into the fabric, carrying that vibe until it reaches the wearer. It’s a concept rooted in ancient ideas, as all of our pieces are hand-worked, handmade, and natural.
