Slow Fashion & Art-Driven Design
For me, design is always a lengthy process of decisions and output: a blend of what is essential to wear, what is beautiful to live in, the right shape, and the right print for the right reason. We wear clothing, so how can PO-EM create pieces that you will reach for over and over, that provide comfort, artistry, and also make you shine? This is the problem I seek to solve for each and every piece of handmade clothing that gets made.
COLORS
My mood board for the new season has a palette of mauve, natural whites, lavenders, and light browns. This gentle foundation is punctuated by a stronger, more vibrant tone: the lush, deep color of green grass. The juxtaposition is working beautifully in the sketches. Interesting prints and patterns go a long way to uplift, so these are paired when they add value. There is always a tension between what natural dye base to use (if any) and what color block (if not black), and so on. This process is so important because if I miss the mark, then I have to sit on the mistake in terms of inventory, and that is never good for business.
SHAPES
For this collection, I looked closely at our best-selling fits and paired them with the shapes I frequently favor. The resulting line-up is a smart lineup of the beloved and the brand new.
You’ll be seeing the return of some of your favorites, including:
-
The versatile Deck Pant
-
The essential Tanked Blouse
-
The flowy Sera Top
-
The elegant Maker Top
Plus, the brand will be bringing back the much-requested restocks of our best-selling Casa Tops in the beautiful Jug and Dusty colorways.
NEW
I am particularly excited to introduce two new shapes to the line-up, both of which are based on vintage pieces from my studio archive that I tend to wear a lot:
-
A soft, buttonless blazer for effortless layering.
-
A cropped button spring layerable coat top that strikes the perfect balance between structure and lightness.
Both of these new silhouettes are designed for ease, utility, and beautiful wearability, ready to become your new wardrobe staples.
I truly can't wait to share the final collection with you and see how you weave these new pieces into your own story.
